ORGANIZING PASSWORDS
Password management and organization
doesn't have to be hard.
Yet, for many of us it is.
In our modern-world, we have passwords for pretty much everything — devices, financial accounts, streaming services, medical records, utilities, food delivery and ride-sharing services and our favorite retailers. The list goes on and on.
And assuming we're practicing good digital hygiene, every single one of these online accounts has a strong — and unique — password.
So we have a LOT of passwords in our lives.
And in our high-tech world tracking, managing and organizing our passwords has now become "a thing".
And let's face it — no one ever taught us how to manage our passwords. The world just expects us to know how to do this.

how can I best prepare myself?
More than likely, I'll ask questions to better understand your needs. I'm listing some questions here so you can think about them before we speak.
-
what device(s) do you typically use?
-
what feature(s) are important to you?
-
do you want the ability to store more than passwords? auto-generate secure passwords? etc
-
do you want to be able to share passwords and/or other stored data?

PASSWORD TRANSFER
what's involved?
You've been using one password manager — maybe for a couple of months or several years. Good for you for using a password manager!
Now, for whatever your reasons, you've made the jump and signed up for another password manager.
Yet, maybe you're stumped, afraid to mess something up, or simply don't want to be bothered with transferring your passwords from one password manager to another.
how can I best prepare?
I'll need to know what password manager you've decided to abandon and what password manager you want to transfer to. I'll also want to know if you have any non-passwords items stored with your previous password manager (like wifi passwords, digital files, etc).
how will this work?
You'll meet with Kate via Zoom and you'll share your screen. She will guide you through the process of transferring your data so you'll need to connect to Zoom from a laptop or computer.
Alternatively, you'll have the option of giving Kate access to your computer so she can do the transfer for you. And she'll never know your super duper, highly secure, master password for your password managers!
Most clients prefer Kate take control and do the work so they can sit back and what the "magic" happen.
this sounds .... complicated.
That's why I offer this service! To me, this work is fun — I get to help individuals with "techy things" while making your life easier. It's a win-win for the both of us!
how long will this take?
If we're both prepared, this transfer will likely take no more than an hour!
wait a sec ... you're going to see alllll my passwords?
Maybe. Maybe not. And, if I do, I'll be moving so quickly that I won't even have time to read your password information!
Additionally, because of my exposure to client's passwords, I have worked with my insurance agent to ensure I have the appropriate protections in place.
how much does this service cost?
$259.
how do I pay?
After you schedule your session with me, I'll reach out requesting payment. Payment will be due 24 hours before our session and my preference is to be paid via Zelle.

PASSWORD CLEAN-UP
what's involved?
You realize you have passwords stored in multiple locations — like a keychain, a browser, a password manager.
And, what's worse, some of the stored passwords are out of date and you're spending time either resetting passwords or looking up "the" correct password.
So you've decided that your passwords need to be cleaned up so that you can have a single list of accurate passwords in your password manager.
how can I best prepare?
I'll need to understand where your current passwords are stored. I'll also need to understand where you want your passwords stored after they are cleanaed up.
how will this work?
You'll meet with Kate via Zoom via TWO sessions. For both sessions, our time will be most efficient if you have Zoom installed on your computer or tablet so you can share your screen. You'll also have the option of giving Kate control so she can work her magic swiftly.
In Session #1, we'll:
-
Export passwords. I'll walk you through how to export the passwords you have saved in your various locations.
-
Merge data. We'll then merge the data from your sources into a file using a spreadsheet of choice (Numbers, Excel, Google Sheets).
-
"Programming Magic". This is the heart and soul of Session #1. Assuming I'm granted access to your spreadsheet, I'll sort and "program" it to find duplicate entries and/or different passwords for the same account.
After Session #1, you'll have homework to resolve any discrepancies that are found — things like different passwords stored for the same account, different and/or missing usernames for the same site.
In Session #2, we'll:
-
Prepare for importing. Once you've resolved any discrepancies with your passwords, we'll prepare your data for importing. I can either coach you through this or, assuming I'm granted access to your spreadsheet, I can prepare the data for importing.
-
Import your passwords. Once the data has been prepared, I'll coach you how to import the data into the location(s) you want it stored.
this sounds .... complicated.
I understand your perspective. And my desire to be transparent about the process was meant to educate, not overwhelm.
To me, this work is fun — I get to help interesting people while flexing my "tech muscles" (does this make me a little bit of a nerd? probably.) So it's a win-win for the both of us!
what's the hardest part?
I'm not going to sugar coat it ... the hardest part will be your homework.
And, unfortunately, resolving discrepancies is the hardest part to predict — both in terms of predicting how many passwords may need to be reconciled and how long it will take to investigate.
I've worked with one client who had a dozen which they quickly resolved in Session #1. I've had other clients who took several weeks to investigate their differing passwords.
And, what's worse --> if you want to delete passwords from a browser or your Apple keychain, you'll need to do this yourself — one. at a time.
So, depending on what we find, what else is going on in your life, the time between Session #1 and Session #2 could be a few days, or a few weeks.
how long do the two sessions last?
Great question!
Session #1 will be scheduled for 90 minutes — though likely we won't need that long.
Session #2 will be scheduled for 60 minutes — though we likely don't need the entire time.
wait a sec ... you're going to see alllll my passwords?
Yes. I will. Yet, I'll be moving so quickly that I won't even have time to read your password information. Additionally, because of my exposure to client's passwords, I have worked with my insurance agent to ensure I have the appropriate protections in place.
how much does this service cost?
$389.
how do I pay?
After you schedule Session #1 with me, I'll reach out requesting payment. My preference is to be paid via Zelle.
how do I request this service?
